Just a quick word to tell you how we’re doing for the up-coming Inter club event which this year will take place in Uzès, a charming little town in the Gard region of France.
For those of you who don’t know this region it’s a bastion of Protestantism in a country which is predominantly Catholic.
There is a superb museum dedicated to the protestant wars in France. well worth a visit.
Beyond war of religion, Uzès and the surroundings let us find out marvelous examples of the French Gothic and Renaissance style inherited from the powerful Lords of the wealthy duchy of Uzès, such as Lussan, Aubussargues, Capelles, Montaren and even Vallorix!
The terrain is ideal for motorcycling with lots of twisty country roads going as high as 1565 metres (5135 feet) as regards the Mont Aigoual, so make sure your brakes are working!
There are a lot of things to visit. For those of you with a sweet tooth you have the Haribo factory famous for its gelatinous crocodiles, amongst others as well as its museum which can also be visited.
There is the “Bambouseraie” one of the largest selections of different varieties of bamboo in Europe, you can even hear them growing!
The towns of Avignon and Nîmes aren’t very far away and, of course there is the famous “Pont du Gard” built by the Romans which we will be visiting on one of our outings.
If you’re interested in Superbike racing you can sign up for the race which is on the Saturday at the Ledenon racetrack.
We may even have a visit of the paddock and our bikes will be in a secured parking area.
Last but not least, we have legendary French food and wine to help you while away the motorcycle blues……………….. if you have any.
Hope to see you soon.
